The Right to Bare Arms
This summer, we asked all of our NextTribers to share pictures of themselves proudly baring their upper arms—and we are in love with the responses. A lucky handful of women won an epic NextTribe “Bold” tanktop, but the rest of us just had a great time giving the middle finger to everyone age-shaming our biceps.
New York Writers’ Lunch
What a grand time with great writers. The writing in NextTribe is what sets us apart. We value good writing and those who do it, and we know you feel the same. These are just 15 of our many writers who help you explore what it means to be a 45-plus-year-old woman in 2017. Thanks to all for coming and contributing energy and ideas.
Hooray for Gray GiveAway!
Thanks to all of you who entered. There are some gorgeous gray heads out there. We’re proud to feature them. Our winner is Hillary Bitar, 55, from Miami. We’ll be publishing a story and lots more photos of her in the next few weeks. Woo hoo!
Ultimate Women’s Expo, May 20-21 2017, NRG Center, Houston
We loved meeting our Tribe at the Houston’s Women’s Expo. There were so many highlights, starting with our dart game. We put three pet peeves about aging on to custom-made dart boards: “Photoshopped Pictures of Actresses Our Age;” “The Person Who Invented Hot Flashes:” “Anyone Who Ends a Sentence with `For Your Age.'” Visitors to our booth got to choose the one that ticked them off most and then throw a dart at it. The prize depended on where the dart hit, with the top prize being one of our amazing, super soft T-shirts. We gave away lots of T-shirts and other prizes as well. We also met up with Mariel Hemingway, who was a speaker at the conference, and our own editor, Jeannie Ralston, spoke on the Main Stage. Her talk, 5 Ways to Kick Butt As You Get Older, was based on articles we’ve published here on NextTribe. So you, dear readers, are already in the know!
Launch Party May 4, 2017. Hotel Van Zandt, Austin.
We had a blast celebrating strong, funny and smart women at our launch party on May 4th at the Hotel Van Zandt in Austin. We had a great crowd and the general consensus was that we have to start meeting like this more often! So we’re looking at other occasions where you can have fun and come together with women just like you. AKA, Your Tribe.
